Elbow, Cast Of Thousands

£60.00

The eerie figures on the front of Cast Of Thousands (named after the Glastonbury crowd whose singing was sampled for the song Grace Under Pressure) caused many drivers to panic when they materialised in a farmer’s field at the side of the M1 motorway, between Junctions 27 and 28. Named Elle and Bo, these three-metre-high polystyrene statues were mistaken for aliens and removed by the police, though they soon re-appeared as mascots that followed Elbow around on tour. Frontman Guy Garvey subsequently hatched a plan to send the couple into space, hoping that they would explode over the English countryside.
