Queen, A Day At The Races

Like its predecessor, ‘A Night At The Opera’, ‘A Day At The Races’ was named after a 1930s Marx Brothers film and saw the group shamelessly revelling in their pomp. The No.2 single ‘Somebody To Love’ took their operatic rock to its furthest extremes yet Mercury unleashing one of his most impassioned vocal performances for a power ballad propelled by gospel vocals. Billed as something of a sequel to ‘A Night At The Opera’, ‘A Day At The Races’ again used the band’s iconic crest design for the sleeve, rendering it even more ornate than before, against a black background.
