Queen, A Kind Of Magic

Ever ready to move with the times, Queen used cutting-edge technology to blend live-action footage with cartoon animation for the promo video for their Top 3 UK single and album title track A Kind Of Magic. Filmed by Russell Mulcahy, director of Highlander, the blockbuster movie for which much of A Kind Of Magic was recorded, it saw bandmembers Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon act as vagrants, before a wizard (played by Freddie Mercury) transformed them into a rock band. A host of animated cartoon characters surround the group during their performance and the album’s artwork sees Mercury and co given similar cartoon rendering.
