Slipknot, All Hope Is Gone

£60.00

Taking its name from singer Corey Taylor’s insistence that fans should relinquish all attempts to second-guess the band, All Hope Is Gone emerged as Slipknot’s most eclectic – and arguably accessible – album yet. The marketing campaign for the album initially teased new images of the group wearing their “purgatory masks” (over-sized death masks that they would later burn in the promo video for Psychosocial); when the artwork was finally revealed, the group appeared wearing yet another new set of masks. An update of the band photo used for the sleeve of their debut album, All Hope Is Gone’s cover reflected how much Slipknot had evolved in nine years: the masks were more intricately designed than ever; their lyrical focus had broadened, focusing on political issues; their music had matured into a more classic metal sound.
