The Rolling Stones, Bridges To Babylon

£60.00

In contrast to the more tentative approach of Voodoo Lounge, Bridges To Babylon saw the Stones return with their usual swagger. Embracing modern recording technology with relish, Mick Jagger brought in US hip-hop producers The Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys, Beck) to give the Stones a contemporary makeover. Their confidence in the material is evident in the album’s artwork: a roaring Assyrian lion inspired by a sculpture that Austrian graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister had seen in the British Museum. The desert background was intended to reflect the set design for the Stones’ Bridges To Babylon tour, while the lion was also a nod towards Mick Jagger’s star sign, Leo.
